If you’re anything like us, you enjoy a good scary movie during the month of October. Dekkoo has plenty of options that will satisfy your spooky seasonal needs, but we narrowed down the selection process to highlight these nine flicks worthy of Halloween viewing.
Starring an all-male cast of hotties, this low-budget homoerotic slasher flick offers up a fun, sensual spin on the “sorority massacre” sub-genre. A goofy but noble college kid is surprised when he’s invited to join his school’s most exclusive frat house… until he comes face to face with a masked psychopath who is picking off all of the half-naked muscle boys one by one.
While backpacking across the country, bickering gay couple Cary and Vogel decide to speed up their trek by hitchhiking. Bad idea, right? Brewster, a sexually-confused trucker, picks the pair up on his way to deliver a shipment of coffins. After a few strokes of bad luck (and some others kinds of strokes), the mismatched trio ends up lost and broken down in an abandoned junkyard with five bloodthirsty vampires on the loose.
We’re cheating a little with this one as Black Briefs isn’t really a feature film, but a collection – featuring six different award-winning short films with suspenseful story lines and themes. This compilations aims to entertain and chill your bones in equal measure. Included here are the shorts Communication, Promise, Remission, Spring, Video Night and Winner Takes All. Some are sexy, some are spooky, all are appropriate for a chilly Autumn night in front of the TV.
Intense and deliciously homoerotic, this award-winning new thriller follows Jordan, a strange young Christian missionary who gets caught watching his handsome and equally young Pastor take a shower. Disturbed by these “sinful” urges, Pastor Eli becomes convinced that Jordan is under the influence of a demonic force. The two men get unusually close as an amateur, bizarrely erotic exorcism soon begins.
In the aftermath of WWII, a former Nazi doctor and child molester – this is a REALLY bad dude – finds himself confined to an iron lung following a failed suicide attempt. Things get even worse when a mysterious, handsome young man, hired to be his caretaker, is discovered to be hellbent on revenge. An uncompromising psycho-sexual drama that’s erotic, painful and terrifying in equal measure, In a Glass Cage is a highly controversial classic. Certainly not for the squeamish.
As a group of old high school friends wander through the streets of San Francisco on Halloween night, two of them are forced to confront their unspoken sexual history. Unlike the other films on this list, there’s nothing about The Lost Coast that dips into the horror genre, but it gives you a good Halloween-ey vibe nonetheless. Writer-director Gabriel Fleming’s debut film is a beautifully rendered story of reunion, desire and regret.
Months after they broke up, Gunnar receives a strange phone call from his ex-boyfriend, Einar. He sounds distraught, like he’s about to do something terrible to himself. Gunnar drives up to the secluded cabin where Einar is holed up and soon discovers that there’s more going on than he imagined. The two men seem to be alone, but there’s some kind of supernatural force just beyond the walls that’s looking to get inside with them.
Jasin and his vampire brood’s time is running out. In order for them to survive, Jasin needs to find a mortal to turn into a vampire. It’s sort of like finding a husband… but for all of eternity. Luckily, a fresh-faced young lad named Caleb seems to be just what the witch doctor ordered. The cast is packed with cuties in this gay, low-budget indie in the vampire-romance vein of Twilight. Vampire Boys 2: The New Brood is also streaming now on Dekkoo.
After encountering him during a burglary, Tom begins stalking and antagonizing the attractive young Lars. When Lars finds out about Tom’s intentions, he manages to turn the tables on him, leading to a shocking confrontation. With something of a Single White Female vibe (with ridiculously attractive men swapped in for the leads), The Year I Lost My Mind is a sexy mind-fuck of a thriller from Germany.
