‘The Prodigy’ is now available to rent or buy from all major streaming platforms!

From the producers behind House of the Devil and The Innkeepers comes a bone-chilling new descent into queer psychosexual horror.

Beau Swartz stars in The Prodigy as Adam, a street hustler who has just about given up on life. At the start of the film, he’s picked up by a mysterious trick whose seemingly sinister intentions go largely unnoticed. Adam can’t even muster up the energy to care about his own fate.

He accompanies this man to his isolated home in the desert and soon finds himself held captive – stuck at the mercy of a psychopath whose dark history prevents him from understanding the difference between reality and his own murderous fantasies. As Adam sits locked away in confinement, he finally begins searching his soul… and finds himself faced with an important decision. Should he give up on life completely… or fight like hell to keep it?

Directed by prolific filmmaker Omar Salas Zamora and co-written by frequent collaborator Calvin Picou (who delivers a truly menacing performance as the titular prodigious psychopath), The Prodigy is an unexpected, genre-bending follow-up to their gritty 2020 drama Adam in Fragments. While that film followed Adam during his earlier days on the streets, you don’t need to have seen it to enjoy or understand this one. Both movies function as stand-alone pieces of work that happen to follow the same character.

The Prodigy finds the versatile filmmaking duo sharpening their horror skills – and ‘sharp’ is the right word. This film is not for the squeamish. If you’re looking for lighter fare, we highly recommend the Dekkoo-originals Here Comes Your Man and Nothing But Flowers, two projects from Zamora and Picou that feature far less bloodshed and a whole lot more gay romance! For those who aren’t afraid to get a little twisted, we can’t recommend The Prodigy more highly.

Watch the teaser trailer for The Prodigy below. The film is now available to rent or buy from all major platforms, including Dekkoo.

Watch the trailer for the new season of ‘Danny Will Die Alone’ – debuting November 14!

Danny is back with a brand-new 6-episode second season – this time with even longer episodes!

Join lead actor and creator Jack Tracy on a journey through Danny’s disastrous dating life as he attempts to find love online while embarking on adventures in openness, polyamory, sex drive compatibility, feminization and, naturally, fisting!

New to this season is the addition of Jordan Bell as Danny’s regular hookup Matty, who can go toe to toe with Danny in dishing it out. He’s a fuck and a foil for Danny throughout the season. We also welcome back first season alumnae Lauren Montes as best friend Sally and Michael Motkowski as paralegal, and prior date, Kyle. Danny’s dog Maxi is also sprinkled in for a bit of cuteness!

With a longer format this season, Danny is able to explore the many different quirks of online dating much deeper than before, with comedy just as outrageous and biting as ever. We’ve also amped up the sex scenes, setting up the season as a truly ‘Not Safe for Work’ affair!

Will Danny finally find love? Based on his track record, it’s unlikely! But in Season 2, you’re guaranteed to have plenty of laughs – both ‘with’ and ‘at’ Danny – along the way.

Check out the trailer for the new season below. New episodes of Danny Will Die Alone debut on Dekkoo starting November 14th! You can catch up on the first season, also streaming now on Dekkoo.

Dekkoo In Depth: Get to know ‘Bad Together’ director Jono Mitchell and actor Andrés Erickson

In this installment of ‘Dekkoo In Depth,’ Ross sits down for a chat about the new Dekkoo-original series Bad Together with director Jono Mitchell and lead actor Andrés Erickson.

Bad Together follows the evolving ‘situationship’ between two gay men as they learn to accept and love both themselves and one another… as friends or whatever else.

Robbie (Erickson) is a sensitive young casting associate who is reeling after a recent break-up. When his best friend drags him to a party to cheer him up, he meets the charming and freewheeling Cameron (Queer Niro).

Over six time-jumping episodes, the show checks in with the pair at different moments throughout the years-long relationship that develops. Are these two just friends or are there deeper feeling that aren’t being expressed? And, more importantly, are they even a good match for one another?

Intelligently written, acted and directed, Bad Together examines modern queer relationships with a keen eye and a lot of heart.

Check out Ross’s conversation with Jono and Andrés below. A warning, though: this chat includes some spoilers for the first season. We strongly recommend watching the show first. All episodes of Bad Together are currently streaming on Dekkoo!

Watch the trailer for the upcoming Dekkoo-Original Adam in Fragments

Conjuring Stanley Kubrick, David Lynch and Steven Soderbergh all at once, the trailer for the brand-new Dekkoo-Original Adam in Fragments delivers a small taste of the transgressive sights and sounds to come.

Inspired by crime thrillers of the ’70s, this provocative, gritty drama tells the story of one hustler’s odyssey.

After a prolonged disappearance, Adam (Beau Swartz) reluctantly returns to sex work. Following the urge to protect a young aspiring adult film star, Lucy (Keiva Bradley), from their terrorizing handler, Felix (Francisco Antonio), Adam’s actions trigger a series of events that send violent ripples through the Los Angeles underground sex-trade.

Featuring supporting performances from Jonathan Miller, Ryan Ruffing, Joe Garcia and Tara Emerson, Adam in Fragments is the newest film from Omar Salas Zamora, the filmmaker behind Here Comes Your Man and Nothing But Flowers. This time, he is co-directing along with his Here Comes Your Man lead actor Calvin Picou.

“Adam is a career sex worker,” said the directors. “It was interesting to us to look at Adam as someone who doesn’t view himself as a victim of circumstance, and instead takes pride in a skill he’s mastered. His drug use muddies thing for him, but it was important to us that his story should be one where the sex worker doesn’t necessarily want out because he genuinely doesn’t care. His careful anonymity to keep his professional lifestyle livable until the end was a big draw. His noble aspirations to be in control of his life and accountable for his decisions makes him unaware that he’s on a suicide mission.”

The filmmakers hope that audiences “find the humanity in difficult characters. It wasn’t interesting to try to make them heroes, villains or victims – they just needed to exist.”

You can watch the trailer for Adam in Fragments now on Dekkoo. The film will be available to Dekkoo subscribers in November.

Dekkoo Delivers Diverse, Queer, and Magical Dramedy Series “Paper Boys” May 10

(New York, NY) April 20, 2018–On May 10, Dekkoo.com, the global streaming media service catering to queer men, will launch the six-episode first season of “Paper Boys,” a romantic San Francisco-based dramedy about discovering who you are–and, with a newfound magical power–becoming who you want to be.

This is a picture of Cole from the gay series, 'Paper Boys'

“Paper Boys” tells the story of Cole, who, in a brash decision, secretly moves to San Francisco under the guise of his straight best friend’s engagement party to escape a dead-end career and the memories of a passionate summer fling with a boy in New York.

But when he arrives, he runs into the former fling and old feelings resurface. And after his friend, Daren, reveals his engagement was an accident, Cole uses the mysterious powers of a re-discovered sketchbook to try to put their lives back on track, whatever the consequences.

About the Creators
“Paper Boys” was created by Curtis Casella and Kyle Cabral. Casella writes, directs, and edits, and Cabral directed the first two episodes and plays Cole. The two initially met when they both lived in New York City, and became friends when they realized they shared a passion for storytelling.

Casella and Cabral (above with cinematographer Dan Chen) self-funded the first two episodes out of their own pockets and funded episodes 3 & 4 with Kickstarter. They had shot and released the first two episodes when Dekkoo stepped in to finance, expand and release “Paper Boys” as their fourth original series. Previous Dekkoo original series include “Feral,” “Love is Blind” and “I’m Fine.”

Cabral describes the somewhat-autobiographical “Paper Boys” as “the story of a young, gay Asian-American artist who moves from New York to San Francisco looking to jump-start his career and relationships, and discovers he has a magical power that allows him to reshape his life through his art.”

In real life, Cabral is a director, producer, illustrator, and animator who has created cinematics for video games (The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones) as well as his own queer art.

Three-quarters of cast, crew Asian-American, African-American, Latino, trans
In addition to being that rare queer series centered around a gay-straight male friendship and the struggles of millennial friends at disparate stages of their careers, diversity was also important for the creators, so nearly three-quarters of the cast and crew is Asian-American, African-American, Latino, or trans.

“There isn’t much media out there that explores these issues from the point of view of a queer person of color, or even a person of color,” says Cabral, who is Filipino-America. “One of the things that is really important to us is that ‘Paper Boys’ isn’t seen as just a series with gay people of color, but a series with gay people of color with a story and characters audiences like and want to see more of.”

When asked if they planned to expand the show to appeal to straight audiences, Casella says, “I don’t really care about that, to be honest. Straight people have literally every other show on TV that represents the varying experiences of being a straight person in today’s world. I think Kyle and I are proud for people to think of ‘Paper Boys’ as a ‘gay series’. There should be a lot more gay media!”

DEKKOO TAKES ALL DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS ON ‘SCREWED’ AT FRAMELINE

(New York, NY) June 22, 2017 – Gay streaming platform Dekkoo has acquired North American, UK and French DVD and VOD distribution rights to Nils-Erik Ekblom’s young adult drama “Screwed” (“Pihalla”).

The deal was negotiated shortly after the films’ capacity crowd premiere at Frameline, San Francisco’s International LGBT Film Festival, earlier this week. Terms were brokered by Dekkoo President Brian Sokel and Screwed director Nils-Erik Ekblom and producer, Tom Norrgrann.

Based on the personal experience of its young writer-filmmaker, Screwed is a distinctly sensual, beautifully shot, and sensitively acted drama about a young gay man’s sexual awakening amidst familiar turmoil set against the tranquil backdrop of the Finnish countryside.

“We are absolutely delighted to have the chance to distribute Screwed. It is truly an example of the resurgence of new Queer cinema at its most forward-thinking and affecting.” said Sokel.

Nils-Erik Ekblom said, “Only Dekkoo could offer us such unique home video distribution. As a streaming platform dedicated to gay cinema, Dekkoo is the perfect place for Screwed to instantly reach a passionate and dedicated audience. We’re absolutely thrilled we’ve been offered this opportunity.”

Screwed will be released day-and-date on the Dekkoo streaming platform and home video in the first quarter of 2018.
