The adorable Shared Rooms will get you into the holiday spirit

A sexy, feel-good romantic comedy, Shared Rooms explores the meaning of home and family through three interrelated stories of gay men finding connections during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day

Laslo and Cal (Christopher Grant Pearson and Alec Manley Wilson), a married couple, take in a teenage relative who was kicked out of his home after his parents discovered he was gay; Sid and Gray (Justin Xavier Smith and Alexander Neil Miller), two men looking for a quick hookup, end up finding a much stronger connection; and Julian and Dylan (Daniel Lipshutz and Robert Werner), a pair of roommates, are forced to share the same bed for the week – much to the delight (and horror) of the one harboring a secret crush on the other.

Directed by Rob Williams (3-Day Weekend, Make the Yuletide Gay), Shared Rooms brings together these three interrelated tales of gay men seeking family, love and sex during the holiday season. You can check out the trailer below. The film is now available on Dekkoo.

Director Oliver Mason needs your help!

Oliver Mason has been making short films for many years, having started out as a runner in BBC Drama. He went on to train in script development but has found his real passion lies in directing and editing. His short films Away with Me, about spontaneous holiday romance in Nice that turns sour when there is a clash of intentions and expectations between the two men, and Miss Moneypenny, a bright and spunky 4-minute comedy about gay dating, are available now on Dekkoo. He currently has a short film in the works that needs some crowdfunding assistance.

Have We Met Before? is a short docudrama exploring how the internet has changed how gay men meet and interact with each other. Combining real documentary interviews with a freshly created cinematic narrative, Mason is hoping to create something new and engaging which is simultaneously authentic and poetic.

Short Film Spotlight: Sign

Sign is a deeply touching short film that tells the story of a relationship between Ben (Preston Sadleir), a man with the ability to hear, and Aaron (John McGinty), a man who is deaf.

Directed by Andrew Keenan-Bolger, with a screenplay and score by Adam Wachter, this largely silent film, told through vignettes, music and sign language, picked up ten different major awards on it’s journey along the LGBTQIA+ film festival circuit.

Inspired to portray an under-explored human experience, the filmmakers collaborated with hearing-impaired actors from the New York theater community. The film ultimately combined Keenan-Bolger’s passion for visual imagery with Wachter’s love of musical storytelling.

Sign was shot in a four-day marathon session, in multiple locations across New York City, on a set staffed by actors, ASL interpreters, consultants and many passionate volunteers. Now streaming on Dekkoo, this moving short offers fifteen minutes well-spent.
