New Series Alert: Watch the trailer for ‘Danny Will Die Alone’ – coming to Dekkoo May 16th!

Danny is looking for love in all the right places, but finding all the wrong people.

Born out of creator Jack Tracy’s own post-pandemic dating life, the proudly jaw-dropping new series Danny Will Die Alone follows one single man through the hell-scape of gay courtship in New York City – where he screws his way through the apps in an increasingly desperate search for his one true love.

Recently single after a devastating breakup – and freshly entering a mid-life crisis – Danny finds the dating scene markedly different from the last time he was on the market. Emotional unavailability, fear of commitment and hyper-sexuality abound, all while Danny remains blissfully unaware of his own multitude of flaws.

In Season One, Danny’s attempts at finding romance begin with a failed attempt at converting a hung hookup to a possible partner and end with hiring a professional matchmaker when the apps stop doing their job. Along the way he meets hipsters, conservatives, spiritual beings, sex gurus, sexual novices and even enters his ‘top era’ due to an overabundance of seemingly unwanted bottoms.

Rude, crude and unabashedly judgmental, Danny Will Die Alone serves the relatability missing from modern dating while adding a healthy dose of ‘did he really just say that?’ comedy. In addition to the humor, the series takes a critical look at modern dating, dating app etiquette and shifting relationship styles.

BOY CULTURE: GENERATION X – Now available to rent or own!

From creators Q. Allan Brocka and Matthew Rettenmund, this massively exciting Dekkoo-original follows up the 2006 gay indie hit Boy Culture!

The brand-new Boy Culture: Generation X picks up ten years after the original, following hard-working male escort X as he finds himself up against a much younger generation – who have gained a competitive edge on the market.

X is soon taken under the wind of Chayce, a barely-legal twink who is ruthlessly up to speed on how to sell himself to clients in the digital age. As he struggles to keep his aging body fit and his unusual roster of kinky clients happy, he is also dealing with the realities of living with his ex-boyfriend Andrew, who is aiming to move on from the former romantic entanglement.

Returning to the format of the novel, on which the original Boy Culture was based, each episodic segment of this sexy new installment features a trick from which X learns – or specifically fails to learn – a lesson. Derek Magyar and Darryl Stephens, the stars of the original film, are back and surrounded by many new faces.

Older, wiser and more incisive than ever, Boy Culture: Generation X has a lot to say about love, sex, relationships and aging gracefully in a culture that often values youthful good looks above all else. It’s also hysterically funny!

Boy Culture: Generation X is now available to rent or buy on Dekkoo.com and from all major VOD platforms. It will be available on Dekkoo as part of the subscription plan in 2024! Check out the trailer below.

Dekkoo Acquires Groundbreaking Gay Series ‘Boy Culture: Generation X’

We are thrilled to announce that Dekkoo has acquired the exclusive, worldwide distribution rights for Boy Culture: Generation X – the long-anticipated follow up to the 2006 gay indie hit from director Q. Allan Brocka and novelist Matthew Rettenmund!

This brand-new series will pick up the story ten years later. X (Derek Magyar), still a hardworking male escort, finds himself competing against younger trade in a dramatically changed marketplace. Luckily, Chayce (Jason Caceres), a Gen Z twink who is ruthlessly up to speed on selling sex in the digital age, is there to show X the ropes… but what is this demon twink’s agenda?

Meanwhile, as X struggles to keep his aging body fit and his unusual roster of clients happy, he is also trying to move on from ex-boyfriend Andrew (Darryl Stephens), with whom he, of course, still lives.

“I never dreamed, when I began writing what would become Boy Culture as a college kid, that the story would continue with a movie and now a series,” Rettenmund said. “Revisiting these characters with this incredible cast has been a joy. I am filled with pride over this latest exciting (trust me!) chapter in the saga, and am thrilled to have such a supportive partner in Dekkoo.”

“It’s been an amazing experience to reunite the whole team that made the original film,” added co-creator and director Brocka.

We can’t wait to share this new series with fans of the original film and with the world at large. Just as the gay community has evolved, so too has Boy Culture. This exciting sequel showcases an incredibly talented new cast of actors and captures the essence of contemporary gay life in all its complexities.

Boy Culture: Generation X will premiere on Dekkoo in Fall, 2023. You can read the press release below and make sure to keep checking back! We’ll be posting more news and updates as we get closer to the official launch!
