Coming next week: A sexy new romantic comedy about falling out of love.
From writer-director Thomas Awrey, the new indie drama Drawn Back Home is a film about the lengths people go to find love, friendship, and a place to call home.
Eric (Mickey O’Sullivan) is in a grief cycle from the death of his father and the end of his marriage. Always one to help out around town, he’s finding it increasingly difficult to push forward when life seems to have it out for him. Deciding to stay in Caleb’s Hill after high school was an easy decision as he wanted to take care of his ailing father. He’s managed to build a family of close friends, but there will always be a struggle to keep food on the table. In hopes of building tourism for the town, Eric started putting short video clips online.
Drew (Paul Michael Thomson) ran from Caleb’s Hill a decade ago in hopes of chasing his dreams in a big city. Years later, he’s found some success both in his career and artistic endeavors. However, he still hasn’t found anyone who gets him like the best friend he left behind. Hoping to reconnect, Drew searches online and is introduced to the videos about the town he was so quick to leave years ago. Driven by the need to reconcile and a work obligation, Drew returns to Caleb’s Hill in hopes of rebuilding the friendship he lost.
Filled with a cast of lovable characters, Drawn Back Home hopes you find a place to belong at Caleb’s Hill too.
Justin (Jonathan Miles) knew he was gay from a very young age, but he was not allowed to act upon it. Finally in college and free from having his every move watched, he seeks out what it is he feels he wants… until he discovers what he needs.
When Justin acts out recklessly – again, after the bi-semester check in phone call with his dominating and controlling father – he causes enough personal injury to require yet another ER visit. It is in the ER, on this specific night, he meets Michael (Bjorn Anderson), a male nurse.
As a result of his father’s overt homophobia, Justin has never quite been able to love or accept himself, let alone another person. It’s not until his relationship with Michael begins to blossom that he sees a potential “happily ever after” at the end of a dark tunnel.
Written and directed by Michelle Leigh, this touching indie follows one troubled young man learning how to love himself and accept love from another.

Originally released in 2014, writer-director Denis Theriault’s 10-minute short film I Am Syd Stone earned acclaim at film festivals around the globe and competed as an entrant in the prestigious Iris Prize festival. The film was also included in the 12th volume of the popular Boys on Film DVD series.
I Am Syd Stone followed a closeted gay movie star (played by Gharrett Patrick Paon) returning to his hometown for his high school reunion, who unsuccessfully attempts to rekindle his relationship with his former boyfriend Brent (Michael Gaty).
Now Theriault has followed up that successful short with a brand-new series of the same name. This new six-episode show expands the story.
Syd Stone (now played by Travis Nelson) has found his career as an actor has fading. He is now on location in a small town to film a B-movie, and meets and falls for lawyer Matt (Benjamin Charles Watson), but must confront the emotional consequences of having remained closeted for the sake of his career.
The series is set in the present day, and alludes to the events of the original film, however, there is a much happier ending in store for Stone this time around.
When an Argentinian visits North America and meets his cousin’s boyfriend, instant attraction sparks a blaze of forbidden passion and deep emotion. ‘Sebastian’ is available to watch now on Dekkoo!
A flamboyant 90-year-old grandmother and her gay filmmaker grandson explore the taboos of gender, sexuality and the development of identity in a patriarchal environment. Watch ‘Madame’ now on Dekkoo!
Young couple Richard (Michael Urie) and Alex (Randy Harrison) want what everyone wants: career, kids and a gorgeous home in L.A. But it all seems so impossible until they crash a party at Edendale, their dream house, owned by Jake (Scott Wolf) and Chloe (Kate Reinders), who are hosting a fundraiser for the orphans of Bhutan. Richard and Alex hit it off with the hosts, and while house-sitting for them, discover a secret room filled with a million in cash!
When Jake and Chloe die in a “rickshaw accident” overseas, Richard and Alex worry the cash might not go to the orphans, so they break into Edendale and take the money. They earnestly try to donate the money to Jigme Wangchuck (Alec Mapa), the deputy ambassador of the Embassy of Bhutan, and his assistant Priti Khagda (Tania Gunadi). But the Embassy officials, thinking they’re being set up, refuse the money. So Richard and Alex deposit the cash, find another charity, and end up writing a check to “The Porpoise Purpose,” headed by Stuart Hendron (Lance Bass) and his assistant Olivier (Mitch Silpa).
Just then, they learn from their Realtor, Logan, (Tom Lenk), that Edendale is now on the market. They really want it but have given the money to the porpoise charity – so they stop payment on the check and use the money as down payment on the house, intending to repay the charity by taking out a second mortgage once escrow closes. But tough yet savvy LAPD Detective Dianne Kershman (Ana Ortiz) sees things differently. She tells Richard and Alex that Jake and Chloe were in fact murdered. Worried the killers must be after the money, they panic… and things only get crazier from there.
Such Good People is a hysterically funny madcap indie comedy about a gay couple who are not defined by their sexuality – but by their love and their desire for success. They’re also, of course, every bit as crazy as the straight people in the movie.
