Give Me Your Hand: A Sensual French Road Movie About Brotherhood, Desire and Identity

Now streaming on Dekkoo, Give Me Your Hand (Donne-moi la main) is a striking French coming-of-age drama that explores brotherhood, sexuality, jealousy and the complicated process of discovering who you are.

Directed by Pascal-Alex Vincent, the film follows 18-year-old twin brothers Antoine and Quentin as they leave their quiet French village behind and hitchhike across France toward Spain to attend the funeral of their estranged mother.

What begins as a shared journey soon exposes just how different the seemingly inseparable brothers have become.

Two Brothers, One Journey

Antoine and Quentin live with their father and work in his bakery in rural France. When they learn that the mother they barely knew has died in Spain, the twins secretly set out to attend her funeral.

Traveling largely by foot and hitchhiking, the brothers encounter strangers, new experiences and unexpected opportunities for sexual discovery.

But the further they travel, the more their differences begin to emerge.

Their intense bond is complicated by rivalry, jealousy and their developing sexual identities. When Quentin has an encounter with another young man, the experience creates an especially difficult divide between the brothers.

Their physical journey toward Spain gradually becomes something much more personal: a struggle to understand themselvesโ€”and to accept that growing up may mean growing apart.

A Different Kind of Gay Coming-of-Age Film

Give Me Your Hand is less interested in conventional romance than it is in the uncertainty surrounding desire.

Director Pascal-Alex Vincent approaches Antoine and Quentin’s story with sparse dialogue and striking imagery, allowing glances, gestures and physical interactions to reveal what the brothers often cannotโ€”or will notโ€”say aloud.

The result is part road movie, part coming-of-age drama and part exploration of male intimacy.

The French and Spanish countryside provides the backdrop as Antoine and Quentin move through a world that seems increasingly larger than the small village they left behind.

For viewers who enjoy atmospheric gay movies, international LGBTQ+ cinema and unconventional coming-of-age stories, Give Me Your Hand offers something distinctive.

Real-Life Twins Alexandre and Victor Carril

Adding another dimension to the film is the casting of real-life twin brothers Alexandre Carril and Victor Carril as Antoine and Quentin.

The two actors had previously appeared together in director Pascal-Alex Vincent’s short film Bรฉbรฉ Requin (Baby Shark), which competed for the Palme d’Or for short films at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.

Their natural familiarity gives Give Me Your Hand an unusual physical intimacy. Affection, rivalry, aggression and dependence frequently overlap, reinforcing the sense that Antoine and Quentin are attempting to establish individual identities after spending their lives defined as a pair.

The film also stars Anaรฏs Demoustier, alongside Samir Harrag, Katrin Sass and Fernando Ramallo.

From France to Spain

Originally released as Donne-moi la main, Give Me Your Hand was the feature-film debut of French filmmaker Pascal-Alex Vincent.

The film was selected for international festivals including the Torino Film Festival, New Directors/New Films in New York and the Kiev Molodist International Film Festival.

Vincent combines elements of the classic road movie with queer coming-of-age cinema, animation and a moody electronic soundtrack by German post-rock duo Tarwater.

Much of the film unfolds outdoors, giving the twins’ journey an almost dreamlike quality as they move through fields, roads, train stations and unfamiliar towns on their way south.

Brotherhood, Sexuality and Growing Apart

At the center of Give Me Your Hand is a deceptively simple question: What happens when two people who have always defined themselves through one another begin becoming different people?

For Antoine and Quentin, sexuality becomes part of that separation.

Their encounters along the road reveal desires and attractions that don’t necessarily align, forcing both brothers to confront a changing relationship neither fully understands.

Rather than offering easy answers, the film allows those tensions to remain complicated. Desire mixes with jealousy. Affection turns into anger. Independence can feel like rejection.

It’s an intimate portrait of two young men reaching the point where being brothersโ€”and even identical twinsโ€”no longer means following the same path.

Taekwondo Is Now Streaming on Dekkoo

Marco Berger and Martรญn Farinaโ€™s acclaimed gay romance Taekwondo is now streaming on Dekkoo.

Few filmmakers capture the unspoken tension between men quite like Argentine filmmaker Marco Berger. In Taekwondo, co-directed with Martรญn Farina, lingering glances, casual touches and moments of silence say almost as much as the dialogue.

The result is a slow-burning, sun-soaked story of friendship, attraction and the uncertainty that exists when neither man is quite sure what the other is thinking.

And now, Taekwondo is available to stream on Dekkoo.

A Summer Vacation Where Everything Begins to Change

Fernando is spending his vacation at a country house in Ezeiza, outside Buenos Aires, surrounded by a close-knit group of male friends.

The days are deliberately uncomplicated: swimming, drinking, smoking, talking and lounging around the house and pool. Away from their everyday responsibilities, the friends settle into the easy intimacy that comes from knowing one another for years.

But this time, Fernando has invited someone new.

Germรกn, a friend from his taekwondo class, joins the group for the vacation. What Fernando doesn’t know is that Germรกn is gay.

As the long summer days unfold, something begins developing between the two men. Glances last a little longer. Physical proximity takes on another meaning. Ordinary moments suddenly seem charged with possibilities neither man is quite prepared to acknowledge.

Taekwondo turns that uncertainty into the heart of the film.

Summer, friendship and unspoken attraction collide in Taekwondo.

The Art of the Slow Burn

Anyone familiar with the films of Marco Berger will recognize the territory.

Rather than rushing toward declarations of attraction, Berger allows desire to develop through observation. The camera notices the things his characters notice: a body across the room, an accidental touch, someone changing clothes, a glance that mayโ€”or may notโ€”mean something more.

In Taekwondo, that approach is particularly effective because Germรกn finds himself surrounded almost entirely by straight men.

The relaxed environment allows the group to talk openly about sex, relationships and their private lives. For Germรกn, however, Fernando remains something of a mystery.

Is the attraction between them mutual? Is Fernando simply affectionate with his friends? Is Germรกn imagining something that isn’t there?

Berger and Farina are in no hurry to provide the answer.

Instead, Taekwondo lets the tension build.

For viewers who love romantic LGBTQ+ movies where chemistry develops gradually rather than through conventional romantic storytelling, that’s precisely the appeal.

A Modern Favorite of Queer Cinema

Released in 2016, Taekwondo was directed by Marco Berger and Martรญn Farina, with a screenplay by Berger.

The film stars Gabriel Epstein as Germรกn and Lucas Papa as Fernando, alongside Nicolรกs Barsoff, Francisco Bertรญn, Arturo Frutos, Andrรฉs Gavaldรก, Juan Manuel Martino, Darรญo Miรฑo and Gastรณn Re.

The film traveled extensively on the international LGBTQ+ film-festival circuit, with selections including the BFI London Film Festival, Guadalajara International Film Festival, Sydney Mardi Gras Film Festival, Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival, Out On Film Atlanta and Mix Brasil.

It also won the Sunny Bunny Prize for Best LGBTQ Film at the Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival.

More than a decade after it was made, Taekwondo remains a memorable example of Berger’s distinctive approach to gay cinema: intimate, observant, sensual and fascinated by the complicated territory between male friendship and sexual attraction.

Last Chance to Watch: Gay Movies Leaving Dekkoo in September

Your watchlist has a deadline.

Every month brings new gay movies, series and short films to Dekkoo โ€” but sometimes that means saying goodbye to a few favorites, too. Several acclaimed, romantic, moving and downright wild titles are leaving Dekkoo on September 30, 2026, which means you still have plenty of time for one last watch.

From an internationally acclaimed gay romance to queer history, French comedy and even an outrageous dose of drag-fueled martial arts, here are some of the movies and series you won’t want to miss before they’re gone.

Looking for even more to watch? You can always browse hundreds of gay movies streaming on Dekkoo.

And Then We Danced

If thereโ€™s one movie on this list that belongs at the very top of your September watchlist, it might be And Then We Danced.

Directed by Levan Akin, this acclaimed drama follows Merab, an ambitious dancer training with the National Georgian Ensemble whose carefully ordered world changes with the arrival of Irakli, a talented and rebellious new dancer. Competition gradually gives way to attraction, forcing Merab to confront desires that don’t fit comfortably within the traditional world surrounding him.

Tender, sensual and beautifully performed, And Then We Danced premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was later selected as Sweden’s submission for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards.

If this is your kind of love story, you’ll find plenty more in Dekkoo’s collection of gay romance movies.

Watch And Then We Danced on Dekkoo before September 30.

My Life With James Dean

Looking for something considerably lighter?

French filmmaker Dominique Choisy’s My Life With James Dean is a charmingly offbeat gay romantic comedy about Gรฉraud, a filmmaker traveling to Normandy to present his latest movie at a local festival.

Scene from My Life With James Dean, a French gay romantic comedy streaming on Dekkoo

There’s just one problem: practically nobody seems interested in seeing it.

Fortunately, the theater’s handsome young projectionist is considerably more interested in Gรฉraud himself.

Mixing romance, filmmaking, sexual misadventures and plenty of eccentric humor, My Life With James Dean is an affectionate celebration of movies, attraction and the unexpected connections we make along the way.

The Letter Men

Sometimes eight minutes is all a film needs to break your heart.

Scene from The Letter Men, a gay World War II love story streaming on Dekkoo

Director Andy Vallentine’s award-winning short film The Letter Men is inspired by a remarkable collection of queer love letters written during World War II.

Separated by circumstances that made openly expressing their relationship impossible, Harry and John preserved their love through letters โ€” creating a remarkable record of queer love during an era when relationships like theirs were forced into secrecy.

Beautifully produced and deeply moving, The Letter Men is both a love story and a reminder of the LGBTQ+ lives that existed long before they could safely be lived in public.

If you haven’t seen this one yet, don’t let its short runtime fool you. It leaves an impression โ€” and it’s a great reminder of how much storytelling can fit into the gay short films available on Dekkoo.

Watch The Letter Men on Dekkoo through September 30.

Incomplete

Dance becomes a language for loneliness, desire and connection in Incomplete, a visually striking short film from writer-director Sasha Korbut.

Narrated by Cory Michael Smith (Gotham, May December), the 16-minute drama uses movement to explore one young gay man’s feelings of isolation and his search for intellectual, physical and spiritual connection.

It’s intimate, atmospheric and another perfect example of just how much emotional ground a great gay short film can cover in a matter of minutes.

Watch Incomplete on Dekkoo before September 30.

Last Meal Universe

Gay romance meets intergalactic destruction.

Yes, really.

Scene from Last Meal Universe, a Thai gay romance series streaming on Dekkoo

The Thai series Last Meal Universe begins with an alien who has been sent to Earth with a rather unfortunate assignment: destroy the planet to make room for a new intergalactic expressway.

Things get complicated when he becomes fascinated by the owner of a small Thai restaurant โ€” and begins questioning whether Earth deserves its scheduled demolition after all.

Playful, romantic and delightfully strange, Last Meal Universe is an especially good September binge if your taste in gay romance extends beyond the usual meet-cute.

Start watching Last Meal Universe on Dekkoo before September 30.

Love Is Love

For viewers who prefer their romance with the melodrama turned all the way up, there’s Love Is Love.

This wildly campy Bollywood-inspired gay melodrama jumps through time to tell the story of childhood friends Aryan and Ashley and the romantic relationship that develops between them.

Love, tragedy and plenty of heightened emotion follow.

It’s unabashedly sentimental, colorful and very different from the quieter gay drama movies elsewhere in the Dekkoo library โ€” which is exactly part of its appeal.

Watch Love Is Love on Dekkoo before it leaves September 30.

Enter the Drag Dragon

And then there’s Enter the Drag Dragon.

How exactly do you describe this movie?

Scene from Enter the Drag Dragon, a drag-fueled martial arts comedy streaming on Dekkoo

Drag queens. Martial arts. Horror. Comedy. Musical numbers. A stolen painting. Zombies, ninjas, ghosts โ€” and a whole lot of gloriously low-budget queer insanity.

The film follows a martial arts-loving drag queen detective whose investigation into a stolen painting sends her into an increasingly outrageous adventure.

If you’re looking for something completely unlike anything else on your watchlist, this is it.

Enter the madness and watch Enter the Drag Dragon on Dekkoo before September 30.

Don’t Wait Until September 30

September is bringing plenty of new movies and series to Dekkoo, but it’s also your last opportunity to catch these favorites while they’re still available.

Whether you’ve been meaning to finally watch And Then We Danced, want to revisit My Life With James Dean, have eight minutes to spare for The Letter Men, or feel brave enough to experience Enter the Drag Dragon, now is the time.

So clear a little room on your watchlist.

Spring Awakening: New Beginnings, New Desires

Thereโ€™s something about spring.

The light lingers a little longer. The air softens. And suddenly, everything feels possible again.

With Spring Awakening, our latest Dekkoo Select, weโ€™re celebrating a curated collection of gay films and LGBTQ stories about new beginnings, first love, and the moments that change everything. From quiet, intimate romances to bold, unexpected connections, these films capture what it means to step into something new.

A Season of Firsts

Spring is the season of becoming.

Of first glances that turn into something more. Of connections that arrive unexpectedlyโ€”and change everything.

In Lilies Not For Me, longing unfolds in a way that feels both intimate and unresolved, capturing the fragile space between wanting and acting. High Tide brings us to the shoreline, where attraction simmers under the surface, shaped by timing, place, and vulnerability.

And then thereโ€™s Norwegian Dream, a story that feels suspended between tenderness and tensionโ€”where love doesnโ€™t exist in a vacuum, but within the realities surrounding it.

Each of these films captures that pivotal moment where something begins.

Lilies Not For Me LGBTQ romance film still

Desire, Messy and Alive

Not every awakening is quiet.

Some are bold. Some are chaotic. Some arrive with humor, surprise, or a sense that life isnโ€™t going to follow the script you expected.

Who Wants to Marry an Astronaut? leans into that unpredictabilityโ€”playful, offbeat, and full of personality. Boychick explores identity and connection with a sharp, emotional edge, while 8 Years reflects on what happens after the sparkโ€”when love stretches across time, distance, and change.

Together, these stories remind us that desire isnโ€™t one thing. Itโ€™s layered. It evolves. And sometimes, it catches us completely off guard.

These films speak to each other. They echo across different places, different lives, different kinds of loveโ€”but theyโ€™re all rooted in that same idea:

Change is coming.
