Nowhere tells a dramatic story about compromise, sacrifice and love

Adrian and Sebastian (Miguel González and Juan Pablo Castiblanco) live an openly gay life in New York as immigrants.

When Sebastian’s visa is rejected, the two must decide whether to return to Colombia where they face rejection and persecution for their sexual orientation or do whatever is necessary to stay in the United States.

Either way, the thoughts and discussions associated with the decision will have a profound effect on the couple.

Hitting upon hot button issues, Nowhere places its characters within the context of the difficult immigration situation in the US and furthering a sense of homelessness and lack of belonging for the main protagonists.

A deeply moving romantic drama, Nowhere is available to stream now on Dekkoo. Watch the trailer below.

An unexpected love triangle develops in the romantic drama You and I

It’s summertime in Berlin. Jonas (Eric Klotzsch) is planning a trip through the little known area of the Uckermark, in preparation for a photography project. He invites his best friend, Phillip (George Taylor), to come along.

The two men haven’t seen one another since the time they spent together in London. So they pack up their Mercedes camper and take off across uncharted territory, stopping whenever they see something they like, taking pictures and generally enjoying a laid-back road trip.

The fact that Phillip is gay has never been an issue for either of them. When they pick up a hitchhiker named Boris (Michal Grabowski), however, who shows Jonas some interesting spots and starts to make moves on Phillip, the friendship of the two starts to fray. Maybe three’s a crowd after all? By the end of the summer, things between Jonas and Phillip won’t ever be the same again.

A sexy and bittersweet romantic drama, writer-director Nils Bökamp’s You and I is a stimulating, visually arresting romantic drama that tells a simple coming-of-age story, but packs in a lot of universal emotion.

Coming next week: After the tragic death of his son, a 55-year-old police officer wants to find out more about his life.

Now Available: Entropic

Adapted from R. W. Gray’s short story of the same name, and recipient of Telefilm Canada’s Microbudget Production Grant, the brand-new feature film Entropic tells the story a beautiful man who, sick of being objectified, devises a horrific plan to free himself from the desires of those who covet him.

R. W. Gray’s isn’t just the author of the original story from which this film is based. He’s also the director. Gray has directed several short films that have appeared in festivals around the world and received acclaim. Zack & Luc, aidos, and Choke Hold all garnered wide festival play and accumulated multiple awards. Entropic is his first feature film as a director.

“I think in all my short work so far I have been exploring the themes around beauty and desire that shape Entropic, my first feature film,” said Gray. “I’ve been fascinated with short stories like Barbara Gowdy’s “We So Seldom Look on Love” and Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s “Handsomest Drowned Man in the World” where a young woman and a village, respectively, look on the bodies of their beloveds and find things sublime, even though the beloveds are dead or drowned. What does it mean to look directly upon the beloved? Is there a truth to be found or are we doomed like Roland Barthes’ amorous subject, doomed to take the clock apart in an attempt to reveal time?”

Two childhood friends reunite as adults in the romantic Argentinian drama Esteros

Sexy and heartfelt, Esteros tells the story of two men who get a second chance at love.

The summer before high school, their friendship transformed into something deeper, but their mutual attraction never came to fruition.

More than a decade later they meet again, and the chemistry between them is palpable, but now Matías has a girlfriend who has traveled to his hometown for Carnival. Seeing his old friend, now so comfortable and confident, reawakens Matías’ feelings. This unexpected opportunity forces him to reassess his choices and to figure out whether he can turn his back on marriage in favor of the man he’s always loved.

The power of music influences an intense male love triangle in The Accompanist

Brandon is impressed by Jason’s “magic” music that somehow captivates the dancers at the studio and allows them to dance with added grace and elegance. However, Brandon’s off-again, on-again boyfriend, Adam, who is also a dancer at the studio, is insanely jealous of the attraction evident between Brandon and Jason.

Jason and Brandon begin working together at night at the studio to prepare him for upcoming auditions. Brandon learns more about Jason’s special powers to send people back in time with his piano music to “where they need to be healed the most.” As the love triangle plays out between Jason, Brandon and Adam, the lines between eroticism and violence become blurred.
